THOUGHTS ON PAINTING
In the Shining Painting, a woman appears to be lying on her back, her legs slightly parted as she looks down at her own body. This abstract painting does not put much focus onto the details of her body and instead focuses on the outlined shape of her thighs, her breasts and her facial silhouette. In the center of her body, there is a bright, almost glowing blue light that seems to extend from her round belly and illuminates the blackness around it. The light appears to suggest a pregnancy and the way the artist views an unborn child as a shining light in an otherwise dark world.
GETTING TO KNOW RUSUDAN KHIZANISHVILI
Born to the country of Russia in the year 1979, Rusudan Khizanishvili is a contemporary artist who lives and works in the country of Georgia. She takes her influence from a number of artists that came before her, her work a reflection of the history of art while also putting her own spin on their styles. She primarily uses oil in her paintings to create a unique texture on each one. The results are paintings that verge on nightmarish with their interesting takes of the human form and of places that appear as if they could only be real in the dream world.
