THOUGHTS ON PAINTING
The Sprin Women Painting is an abstract piece that is reminiscent of Picasso in the way that it jumbles up the features of the woman's body while still adding detail. The background of this photo is geometric in nature with teal, red and blue colors filling up L-shaped designs all around her. Her body appears to be pregnant with her protruding belly making up the center of the painting. Her mouth, her hair and her breasts are all cast in blue and teal colors not unlike the cool colors that make up the backdrop of the painting.
GETTING TO KNOW HILDEGARDE HANDSAEME
Hildegarde Handsaeme was born in Kortrijk and now works just southeast of Brussels. She has a vision and talent for depicting the natural bodies and nature of women, painting them in her own unique way through her self-taught abilities. She has won international prizes for her work, being praised for the way that she follows a harmonic pattern in all of her work. The figures of the women's bodies she paints are always at the center of the work, and she is excellent at creating backgrounds that highlight different parts of their bodies in a way that offers plenty of symbolism.
