THOUGHTS ON PAINTING
Unique in its way, the Roots Painting features an abundance of trees, some of which have their roots exposed while others showcase their thin, dead branches. Slightly surrealistic in the way that the roots of the trees hang down from the top of the painting instead of peeking out from the ground at the bottom, this painting is cast in colors such as brown, gray, blue, orange, tan and green. The trees that extend from the bottom of the painting wind their thin trunks up to reach for the sky, while the roots at the top extend their arms toward the dirt.
