Animal Planet is an original, one-of-a-kind figurative painting signed by artist Rusudan Khizanishvili. This piece of art was created in 2015 and the painter used acrylic on canvas. It measures 14" x 14" inch (36 x 36 cm) and is available for sale online for 950 USD.

This figurative piece is an intriguing depiction of the tempestuous relationship between man and nature. The chaos of the image, with overlapping elements and the artist’s choice of watery blues and a deep earthy red bleeding from a grey background, remind us of the damage that man has done to nature but also that which nature can easily bestow upon man’s world. Animal-like and fish-like creatures dominate the lower part of the composition, as if being pushed down by the human figure. The human figure seems to be whispering something to its animal counterparts as the relationship, tempestuous and unresolved, evolves.

Born to the country of Russia in the year 1979, Rusudan Khizanishvili is a contemporary artist who lives and works in the country of Georgia. She takes her influence from a number of artists that came before her, her work a reflection of the history of art while also putting her own spin on their styles. She primarily uses oil in her paintings to create a unique texture on each one. The results are paintings that verge on nightmarish with their interesting takes of the human form and of places that appear as if they could only be real in the dream world.
