THOUGHTS ON PAINTING
In the Portrait of Horse painting, the artist treats us to the sight of a horse's head slightly turned to face the viewer. Horses often stand to represent power and stamina, the ability of a person to go after what they want, no matter how long it takes. The horse holds its head high and confident against a background composed of a number of different colours, showing a determination to keep one's chin up even with a variety of adversity at their backs. Short brushstrokes are layered atop one another in this painting to add in depth and dimension.
