Cristina Mihailescu is a self-taught artist who believes that it has always been her life's calling to paint. She did not start painting until the year 2013, but since then, she has been named Artist of the Month on several occasions from several different sources. Her paintings are a part of many different private collections, something she prides herself on. A lot of her artwork can be described as colorful and bold; she enjoys using a lot of mood and light in her pieces to capture the way she feels when she looks around at everyday life.
Cristina Mihailescu chooses to work primarily with watercolors, pastels and oil, but she prefers to paint with acrylics. You will find pieces in her collection that range across all of those different mediums, capturing her vision of the world in a number of different ways. Her art offers many different styles, such as abstract, semi-abstract and expressionism pieces. Even so, her pieces tend to lean toward the impressionism side of art, and that is made clear in her work. Inspiration is taken from a number of famous artists, including Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Sargent, Sorolla and others.
None of her pieces are short on color, no matter what the subject matter might be. Hues that are commonly found throughout her work include purple, pink, blue, red, yellow and different shades of brown. She paints a lot of still life pieces and landscape pieces. The works centered around the outside often have human subjects in them.
