Kajal Zaveri was born in India and currently resides in California since the last 15 years. With a background of an MBA in finance and MA in economics and she has worked in various academic and corporate positions in those fields. Though she has been painting since childhood, it has been since the last few years of her life that she has switched careers to being a full time artist.
She has worked in many mediums like oils, watercolors, charcoal, pastels, pencil and ink, with her current emphasis on oil. She loves the freedom of big, bold, tactile strokes and multilayering that this medium allows and her painting style is a mix of Figurative and semi abstract in rich, vibrant, warm colors. She enjoys the lack of any rules in art and painting and this makes her work very free flowing, uninhibited, bold and colorful and finds her inspiration is her own life experiences. Her goal is to share her world as she sees it and capture the mystery and beauty of everything within and around us. Many of her works are part of private collections, both locally and internationally.
In September 2011, Kajal Zaveri won an ‘*Honorable Mention Award’* from Light Space and Time Art Gallery for their “Seasons†Art Exhibition, conducted in August 2011. Kajal’s winning entry was her abstract oil painting, titled “Autumn in the Cityâ€. That competition attracted 394 entries from around the world in all mediums.
